Official Paperwork and Catalog Information

Below is a scan of the 1987 Dealer Price List from Lotus Distributing 1987 Lotus Cover Page
Corporation in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

The building is currently a Goodyear Tire Store.

The document shows the hierarchy of the different Lotus Models in 1987 and their wholesale, quantity discount and suggested retail prices.

It's interesting to note that the top-of-the-line Elan 75  and Prestige models had no "suggested" retail price or listed a quantity discount. We're guessing the bike shops back in the day would ask for whatever they could get for the Lotus premium bikes.

Sadly, missing from the price list is the 1987 Lotus "Design Cinelli SUPREME". The 1987 Lotus Catalog states:

"From the other side of the world comes our Design Cinelli SUPREME made in Italy through an exclusive association of LOTUS and CINELLI bicycles. The SUPREME boasts a Campagnolo Super Record racing groupo , Columbus SLX frame set and Cinelli investment cast components. Each frame is hand crafted in the highest tradtions of the Italian frame builder's art. This care extends to the beautifully pantographed stems, chainrings and seat stays."

Wow!

The SUPREME is pictured in the 1987 Lotus catalog in "Pastel Blue", Lotus did have this to say:

"Due to the extended times involved in producing these hand built models, production and supply may be limited."

Bummer.

Mixte and 27" frames were five dollars more than standard frames.

We think the four bikes at the bottom of the page weren't made by Lotus, all the lotus biked have a  L-number model code and the four listings at the bottom of the page are all "T" codes.

It's amazing how much information one can learn from just one piece of paper! We're hoping to find even more official information and we're hoping some of our readers can help. Can YOU?
